Chapter 8 - Good Morning Jamaasian High

Lost woke up to find sunlight streaming down out of the big window onto her face. She moaned and sat up, squinting her eyes.

Lost looked at all her room mates, each in turn. Swirl was curled up in her blankets with a little smile on her face. Gracie had her face stuffed into her pillow and one of her arms flopped out of the bed. Fang was lying perfectly still on her back with the blankets pulled over her face.

Smiling, Lost turned to look at the clock on her side table next to her bed. It shouted six-thirty at her in bold red light.

Sinking back into her fluffy covers, Lost stared at the ceiling, wondering what to do while she waited for her roomies to wake up.

An idea struck her. Lost quietly turned over and opened her backpack, cringing at the noises her zipper made. She pushed some books aside and grabbed her sketchbook and pencil.

Lost flipped the sketchbook open and tapped her pencil thoughtfully on her chin.

"Ughhhh," a voice groaned from Gracie's side of the room. Lost glanced up, surprised. Gracie then rolled over and her other arm flopped down on the other side of the bed.

Lost grinned and start sketching four people. She was going to draw her and her room mates together.

Half hour passed when Swirl yawned and lifted her arms, stretching. Lost watched as Swirl sat up and looked around. She smiled at Lost and Lost gestured to come over to her bed.

Swirl got up slowly, walked over to Lost's bed, and jumped under the covers with Lost.

"What are you drawing?" Swirl asked quietly.

"You. Well, all of us," Lost said. She pushed her sketchbook over for Swirl to see.

Swirl looked eagerly and did a thumbs up gesture. "That's so cool!"

Gracie made another noise from her side of the room. Swirl and Lost glanced over at her bed and then back at each other. They both grinned and suddenly, they just lost it. Lost quickly stuffed her face in the covers but she kept on giggling. Swirl kept on making funny noises as she tried to stop.

The noise woke up Fang. She sat up and looked at Lost and Swirl who were still laughing. She cocked her head, confused.

Swirl just shook her head and snickered. Lost still had her head in a blanket.

Gracie all of a sudden woke up and sat up quickly.

"What's going on?" she asked, sleepily.

Lost finally got control of herself and lifted her head. "You just were making funny noises and well, it wasn't that funny but I guess I'm hyper!"

Gracie laughed. "I was making noises? Like what?"

Swirl stopped laughing and started mimicking the noises Gracie had made. But Swirl was still gasping from laughing so hard so all she did was wheeze.

All the girls looked at each other and burst out laughing. Lost beamed.

I sure have some awesome room mates!

After they all caught their breath, Gracie got up out of her bed and started rummaging through her backpack.

"I have something for you guys," Gracie said as she stood up again. She lifted up her hand and Lost could see that four gold chains were dangling down. Swirl gasped and raced out of Lost's bed.

"What, really? You bought necklaces for us?" Swirl said. "They are SO cute!"

Each necklace had a dainty gold chain with a jewel pendent on the end. All four had different colors for the pendant. There was an orange, a red, a turquoise, and an emerald.

"Yup! I bought one for each of us. I didn't know which room mates I'd get so I wasn't so sure on buying them. But then my mom said I should just buy them and give them to whoever I get," Gracie replied. "I hope you like them!"

"I do!" Swirl gushed. "Can I pick one?"

Gracie nodded and Swirl reached out and took the one with the turquoise pendant.

Fang and Lost got up and looked that other necklaces. Lost thought they were all pretty.

"May I take the red?" Fang asked.

"Sure thing! Take whichever you want!" Gracie said.

Fang picked up the red pendant and walked back to her bed, admiring the necklace.

Lost thoughtfully looked at the other necklaces. She really liked the emerald colored one and it would bring out the little bit of green in her eyes.

Lost lift the emerald one and watched it as it shone in the sunlight. "I like this one."

"Then I'll take the orange one!" Gracie said happily.

Lost went back to her suitcase next to her bed and pulled out a green skirt and a gray shirt to go with it. It matched very nicely with the emerald pendant.

Swirl marched out of the bathroom, fully dressed and ready to go. She grabbed her wizard hat and plopped it down on her head with satisfaction.

Lost ducked into the bathroom and quickly changed and brushed the many knots and tangles out of her hair.

Just as she went out of the bathroom, the speakers let out a series of crackles.

"Hello and goooood morning!" Headmaster Clark said way too cheerily for seven in the morning. "I hope you all feel rested because today is going to be a fun, full day! Breakfast is in half an hour! Be sure to go down to the cafeteria. There, I will give out a few announcements. Jam on!"

Gracie rushed into the bathroom shouting, "I need more time! I have to do my pigtails!"

The door slammed shut. Lost started making her bed, trying to get it to look as good as it had before she had slept in it. After she struggled with that, she shoved her sketchbook back into her backpack.

A few minutes later, Gracie marched out of the bathroom with her hair in neat pigtails. Fang quickly ran into the bathroom so she could get changed as well.

Gracie sat on her bed, contemplating on which neck item to wear. Her orange scarf or her necklace. She finally decided on the necklace and quickly put it on.

"How does it look?" Gracie asked. The orange pendant stood out on the white and gray shirt.

"Lookin' good!" Swirl said.

Lost nodded and put her own green pendant necklace on. She noted Swirl had hers on as well.

"Ten minutes, let's go!" Fang exclaimed as she rushed out of the bathroom and dumped her pajamas on her bed.

The girls hurriedly put their shoes and ran out of their dorm, through the halls and down to the cafeteria.

"We should all sit at the same table!" Lost said after they gone through the line and got their homemade porridge.

The girls all nodded and sat down at an empty table. Lost looked around and noticed Bepper standing in the line with Wisteria. They seemed to be very good friends.

"Hey, can I invite Karalee, Sarah, and Ja to sit at our table?" Gracie asked.

Hey, I know all of those people! Maybe I'm getting the hang out this boarding school stuff.

"Sure!" Fang said.

Gracie got up and wandered into the crowd.

"Did she even see them or is she just looking?" Swirl asked, confused.

Lost shrugged and started digging into her porridge. She was pretty upset there wasn't any chocolate chips to put in it.

"I'm back! With the pack! Hey, that rhymed!" Gracie said, sitting down in a chair.

Karalee, Sarah, and Ja sat down at the table and immediately started chatting among themselves.

Lost glanced up and noticed a girl brown-black wavy hair making her way over to their table. The girl reached the table and sat down next to Gracie.

"Hey Gracie!" the girl said.

Gracie turned around and grinned. "Frozen! Hi!"

Frozen was wearing pretty much all orange. A orange cap with a design of a fox face sat on her head with a fake tail at the back. Her backpack was orange and she had orange and white stripped socks. A dark orange backpack and an orange necklace with little spikes matched the look.

"Guys, this is Frozen," Gracie said. "She is part of our pack."

All the girls introduced each other and started chatting and eating porridge.

A loud SHRIEEEEEK coming from the little stage at the far end of the room made almost all the students jump and look around. A younger looking student burst out crying.

"Sorry for that!" Headmaster Clark said into the microphone on the stage. "Anyway, I have a couple of announcements for you!"

He cleared his throat before beginning. "First of all, art is starting up today so make sure you go when it says so on your schedule tells you to do so. Second, one of your fellow students wishes to give a little announcement himself! So, without further ado, Aparri, please make your way to the stage.

Headmaster Clark went down off the stage and sat down in one the chairs near the stage. Lost looked around and saw Aparri making his way to the stage looking a little nervous.

Just as he was almost at the stage, a chant started.

"A-PARR-I! A-PARR-I! A-PARR-I!" kids chanted, banging the tables with their fists.

The chant seemed to calm him down. Aparri smirked and hopped onto the stage. He stood there and waited for the chant to stop. He looked like he was enjoying it. Finally, it drifted off.

"Hey, guys. It's me, Aparri." Aparri cleared his throat and continued. "As you all probably know, I get a load of autograph requests. Like, I just stand there in the hallway and a bunch of people yell at me to give them an autograph. I'm not saying I don't like it, I love it. But some of the teachers don't like it because that makes their students late for class."

A little ripple of laughter went throughout the cafeteria. Though Lost heard a loud sigh coming from nearby. Lost looked and saw a guy in blue. Like, all blue. He had a large blue top hat on his head and wore a blue shirt. He had a large black spiked necklace of some sorts around his neck and Lost noted a huge turquoise ring on his hand. He also was wearing a large frown on his face as he glowered at Aparri.

Just as Aparri was about to continue, a loud yell came from the back of the cafeteria.
"Just stop talking already! Don't you ever stop talking for just one moment in the day?!"
Aparri seemed a little taken aback but quickly recovered. "So, instead of me signing autographs in between the classes, I will be in the games room almost every night, ready to sign some autos."
A couple of girls at the table behind Lost sighed dreamily. Lost rolled her eyes.
"Before I go, I just want to let you know that I will be having a daily giveaway," Aparri took a deep breath before continuing. "AllyouneedtodoisheadtothegamesroomtonightandthenIwilltelltherulesthen. Well, peace out!" Aparri took another deep breath from talking so fast and walked off the stage.
The room erupted into applauds and Lost clapped half-heartedly, still confused on what he had said at the last part of his speech.
Lost felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around and saw a girl with a blue flower in her light brown hair and a blue and white stripped scarf around her neck. The girl leaned closer to Lost.
"Did you catch anything of what Aparri said at the end?" the girl whispered.
"Nope. Not a word." Lost whispered back.
"I'm Gfox, by the way." Gfox said softly.
"I'm Lostfairy." Lost grinned. She then noticed Headmaster Clark back on stage and turned back around in her seat to listen to him.
"Thank you very much, Aparri." Headmaster Clark said. "Well, the bell is just about to ring so you better finish up your breakfast and head on up to your classroom!"
The cafeteria became abuzz with noise and chatter. Sarah looked up from her empty porridge bowl and looked around at table.
"Does anyone have the same homeroom as me?" Sarah asked.
"I do!" Ja said brightly.
"I KNOW you do, Ja. I was asking everyone else." Sarah said and stuck out her tongue at Ja.
"Well, who do you have as your homeroom teacher?" Karalee asked.
"Mr. Sigurd." Ja replied then snickered. "Heh, that's a funny word. Sigurd."
"I have Ms. Liza. And I know you have her too, Swirl," Lost smiled.
"Speaking of which, I'd like to get there earlier rather than later. I hate getting caught up in the rush after the bell rings," Swirl said.
"Good plan. Bye guys!" Lost said, standing up.
There was a chorus of goodbyes as Lost and Swirl walked toward their second homeroom of the year.

Chapter 7 - The Amazing Meatballs

A girl came marching into the dorm. She had brown hair with long bangs. She wore a brown longbow on her back and an orange and blue scarf around her neck. She had a bright smile on her face as she stared at Lost and Swirl.
"Hi there! I'm Graciepopstar!" Gracie said.
"Hey, I'm Lost and this is Swirl," Lost replied. "I'm guessing your our dorm mate?
"Yup," Gracie said, looking around at the room.
"Is that your suitcase?" Swirl asked, pointing at the bag near the bed by the window.
"No, that's not mine. It must be our other room mate," Gracie said.
So, Gracie isn't the mystery roomie.
"Well," Gracie said as she moved her duffel bag to a bed, "I overheard one of the teachers talking to some kids and they said art starts tomorrow. They wanted us to get settled in."
"Oh, I was wondering about that," Swirl said.
Lost nodded, even though she had totally forgotten about art. She watched Gracie start unpacking her duffel bag and neatly refold her clothes.
Suddenly, a loud crackle came from overhead. There was sounds of static before a voice started speaking from the speaker in the top corner of the room.
"Hello again, students! I hope your all getting settled in your dorms and getting to know each other. I can already tell that this year will be a year to remember," Headmaster Clark said, cheerfully. "Just so you all know, some parents have come with all your belongings. I suggest that whoever doesn't have any luggage should make your way down to the lobby. You will meet your parents there. Thank you and as we say in Jamaasian High, jam on!"
The speakers went silent. Lost could hear a couple of doors closing and the pounding of running feet.
"I should go get my stuff," Lost said, pulling herself to her feet. She made her way to the door, quietly shutting it behind her. She went down the stairs to the main lobby. The bird statue glowed mystically.
Lost slipped and slid over to the doors. Marble floor sure was slippery!
Lost peered through the glass doors, noticing how spotless they were. Whoever cleaned the school certainly deserved a pay raise!
Seeing her mom, Lost pushed the door open and took a deep breath. The air smelled cleaner here than it did back at home.
Mom walked up the front steps with a smile on her face and holding a brown suitcase. She put it down and pulled Lost into a hug.
"How are you? How's the school? Do you like your dorm?" Mom asked.
"I'm fine, school's great, and I love my dorm. It's so weird though, there's like, famous people here!" Lost exclaimed.
"Hmm, interesting," Mom replied. "Well, I probably should let you go. It's most likely going to be supper soon."
Lost nodded and picked up her suitcase. "Thanks for bringing this, Mom."
"Anytime!" Mom smiled. "Bye, sweetie!"
Lost waved before turning back around and walking inside. She hurriedly made her way back up to her dorm room.
As she reached her dorm room door, it opened and Swirl and Gracie marched out.
"Where are you guys going?" Lost asked, confused.
"Oh, while you were out getting your stuff, the supper bell rang. It's time to go down to the cafeteria," Swirl replied.
"Go ahead and put your stuff in the room. We'll wait for you," Gracie added.
Lost nodded and quickly put her suitcase down on the carpet beside her bed. She'd have to unpack later.
The three girls made their way down the stairs. Lost could hear the clatter of dishes and smelt the aroma of food as they walked up to the cafeteria door. Lost quickly grabbed the handle and held it open for Swirl and Gracie.
"You guys wanna sit at the same table, right?" Gracie asked.
Lost nodded. The idea of trying to find another spot with a group of people she didn't know didn't sound like the ideal plan.
The girls walked up to the end of the line, waiting for their turn. Lost peered past the line to see what was being served.
"Oh yum!" Swirl exclaimed. "Meatballs and spaghetti!"
Lost moved up in the line and grabbed a yellow tray. The serving lady raised a giant spoonful of spaghetti and plopped it down on a plate. Lost cringed at the huge amount.
After getting meatballs and water, Lost made her way to the table where Swirl and Gracie sat at. Just as she sat down, a girl pulled up a chair next to Gracie.
"Ja!" Gracie yelled. "How've you been?"
"Hi Gracie! I haven't seen you since this morning!" Ja said. She wore one silver glove and a red-brown jacket. It had a bow and arrow design on the front.
"So, guess what? I was really hoping to be in a dorm with you and it turns out, I'm in the same room as Sarah! Fancy that, huh?" Ja continued.
"Really? That's such a coincidence!" Gracie said.
"Ja is Sarah's sister, by the way, Lost," Gracie explained, turning towards Lost.
"Which dorm are you in? Maybe it's close to mine!" Ja said excitedly.
"Um, I think it's room number twenty-six. Right, guys?" Gracie said.
"Oh neat! Mine's room thirty! We're just a little ways away from each other." Ja replied.
Lost speared a meatball with her fork and chewed it thoughtfully. So many people already knew each other it seemed. Maybe they had all gone to the same schools before.
All of a sudden, a loud noise came from the far side of the room. Lost looked up and saw a small stage with a microphone. Headmaster Clark tapped it gently and waited for everyone to notice him. Slowly, the room got quiet. The students looked at him expectantly.
"Well, weren't those meatballs great?" Headmaster Clark said. "Anyway, I just want to let everyone know that tonight, you're all free to do whatever you want. You can go to the library or hang out in the games room. But lights out is at ten. Please be at your dorm then. Have a great evening!"
As he walked off the stage, the chatter began again. Lost looked around and noticed Wisteriamoon over near Julian. They sure seemed awfully close.
"Well!" Swirl said, banging the table with her hand. "What's the plan for tonight?"
"Hey, Gracie? Can you come with me and go to the games room? I told Sarah I'd meet her there." Ja said.
Gracie nodded. "I can go. If that's okay with you two." She looked at Swirl and Lost.
"Go ahead! Have fun," Swirl replied.
"So. What's the plan now?" Swirl said, turning her head to look at Lost.
"I don't know. We only have a few hours. Want to go hang out at the library?" Lost suggested.
"Sure! Let's go!" Swirl said.
The two girls walked through the cafeteria. Lost listened to random bits of chatter as she passed by tables.
She suddenly noticed that she was going past a table where Aparri and Bepper were seated at. She noticed Aparri put his arm around Bepper in a friendly sort of way. Maybe they were related to each other? They both did have the same dark brown hair.
Before she knew it, Lost found herself in the library.
It had huge bookshelves in every direction. Dark green tables were set up so students could study. The walls and floor were dark brown wood. The shelves were mahogany and full of books in all shapes and sizes. Lost couldn't tell how big the room was, shelves blocked her view. The air seemed to have an ancient feel to it. Lost couldn't put her finger on what made it feel like that.
Lost took a deep breath. She loved the smell of libraries. All those books in their shelves just waiting to get picked up! All those adventures ready to be read. Yes, Lost sure did love a good library.
* * *
Lost looked up at the giant clock high up on the wall. It was almost lights out.
"We should go," Lost said, closing and putting the book she was reading back onto the shelf.
Swirl nodded and the girls walked out of the library, up the stairs and down the halls to their dorm. Lost was so tired, she could have slept right then and there!
As Swirl pushed the door open, Lost saw a girl with black hair sitting on a bed.
Aha! Our mystery roomie!
"Oh hi there!" Swirl said brightly.
The girl looked up at us and smiled. "Hi."
"I'm Swirlshine. This here is Lostfairy. Gracie is our other roomie. She's not here yet," Swirl continued.
"I'm Fangwolf. But my nickname is Fang," Fang said, brushing a wave of dark hair behind an ear. Fang had red streaks in her hair that worked really well with the black. She had a mini black and white top hat perched on her head. A matching black necklace and bracelet with white studs were on her neck and wrist. A dark red jacket finished the look.
"Hello!" Gracie said, bounding into the room. She walked over to Fang and stuck out her hand. "I'm Gracie!"
Fang smiled and shook Gracie's hand. "I'm Fang."
Lost walked over to her bed and flopped down on it. She was exhausted from the long day.

"Well, we should all go to bed," Swirl suggested. "It'll be another long day tomorrow."

Gracie and Fang nodded and started getting ready for bed. Lost groaned softly, stood up again, and took out her toothbrush.

After she had brushed her teeth and changed into pajamas, Lost snuggled into her warm covers. She watched Swirl brush her brown hair, Fang hop into a bed, and Gracie put on hand lotion.

"Ready for lights out?" Swirl asked. She ran over and flipped off the light. Lost heard her bed rustle as she leaped into it.

"Goodnight guys!" Gracie said in the darkness.

There was a chorus of goodnights and then the room went silent.

Lost stared at the ceiling and sighed happily. She pulled her blanket close around her.

Today, she had survived Jamaasian High. The question now was, could she survive the next day as well?

Chapter 6 - Dorm Sweet Dorm

Lost wandered down the halls, moving with the heavy flow of kids. As she walked down the stairs to the main floor, she spotted a familiar blue wizard hat a little farther away.
"Swirl!" Lost called over the loud crowd.
Swirlshine stopped and looked to see who had called her name. When she saw Lost, she grinned and ran over.
"Hey Lost! Whatcha doing?" Swirl asked.
"I'm going to the office to see which dorm I'm in and to get my locker. You?" Lost said.
"Same! Wanna come with me?" Swirl replied.
"Sure, that'd be great," Lost smiled.
They began walking towards the office. Lost noticed a large group of kids hanging around some lockers.
"Hey! Come sign up to the Wolf Clan!" one student yelled.
"Come join the Carrot Clan! We meet every day after school!" another kid shouted.
"What's that?" Lost asked Swirl as they passed by.
"Oh, that? Those are like clubs. Sorta," Swirl said.
What kind of club is a carrot clan?
They finally reached the office just as the door opened and a herd of loud kids walked out. Swirl reached over, grabbing the door before it shut and held it open.
"After you," Swirl said.
Lost walked into the room and saw there was a lineup for getting dorms and lockers. Lost marched to the end of the line and leaned on one foot slightly more than the other, waiting.
"So, how's school so far?" Swirl asked, coming up beside Lost.
"Pretty good. Coach Gilbert is... interesting," Lost smirked.
"Yeah. he's something else, isn't he?" Swirl laughed. "By the way, are you thinking of joining any after school activities, like sports or drama?"
"Hmm, I don't know." Lost thought for a moment. "Maybe? What about you?"
"Perhaps drama?" Swirl said.
"Nice," Lost said as they moved up in the line. Lost glanced over and saw they were the next ones up after a boy with all black clothing.
After a minute, the boy took a slip of paper from the lady at the desk and walked towards the door, glaring at everyone. Lost shuffled forward.
"Hello, girls. How may I help you?" the lady asked.
"Hi, we're here for our dorm room locations and our lockers." Swirl said politely.
"And your names?" the lady said.
"Swirlshine and Lostfairy." Swirl replied.
The lady clacked away on her keyboard for a bit before grabbing two pieces of paper and writing something down.
"Here you are," the lady said, handing the pieces of paper over.
"Thank you!" Lost and Swirl called as they walked away from the desk.
"Let's see which dorms we have," Swirl said excitedly.
Lost looked down at her paper, skipped pass her locker location and code, and saw where her dorm room was.
"My dorm room is number twenty-six," Lost said as Swirl leaned over her shoulder to see.
"Yaaaayy!" Swirl shrieked in Lost's ear. "My room is twenty-six too! We're roomies!"
Lost beamed and grabbed Swirl's arm.
"C'mon, let's go to our dorm!" Lost said, pulling Swirl towards the door.
"Oh wait! I forgot to phone my mom," Lost said, stopping.
She quickly ran back to desk and asked to use the phone.
After a few minutes, she flew back to where Swirl was waiting.
"Come on!" Swirl said. "I wonder who else will be in our room!"
The girls hurried up the stairs to floor four where the beginning of the girls' dorm rooms were. As they went down the hall, looking for their room, they heard girls yelling and laughing in the hallway and in different rooms. Doors were left open as everyone found their room.
Lost and Swirl stopped in front of their room. Lost held her breath as Swirl twisted the knob.
This is it. I'm going to find out which girls I'm going to spend all year with.
Swirl pushed the door open and walked in. Lost followed after her.
The room was empty. There were four beds, two on either side of the room. A giant window was on the far wall across from the door. There was a night table next to each bed with a lamp. The beds all had the same bedspreads and two pillows on each bed. The wall was a light brown wood and the floor had carpet spread all around it. The room was nice, comfy, and homey.
Lost walked over to the window and peered out. She could see the school grounds where a few students were scattered around. There was some woods further out behind the field.
"Well, one of our roomies must have come and gone," Swirl declared.
Lost turned back and noticed a suitcase next to one of the beds closest to the window.
"Which bed do you want?" Lost asked.
"Can I have this one?" Swirl asked, pointing to the other window bed.
"Sure. I'll take the one next to it," Lost replied.
Lost sat on the bed and daydreamed about how she would decorate her little space. Perhaps some posters and books in the night table shelf. And some of her stuffed toys on the bed.
"Lost!" Swirl said, cutting through Lost's daydream.
"Hm?" Lost replied.
"I was asking when you would get your suitcase and things."
"Oh, my mom said she'd bring it over soon," Lost said, glancing at the clock on the wall. "I think she'll be here in about ten minutes."
Swirl nodded and sat down on her own bed. She gazed at the door. "I really want to know who we're going to spend our year with, y'know?"
Lost nodded. "I know."
All of a sudden, the door burst open.

Chapter 5 - Bumping into Other Students

Lost moved her way down the halls, looking for people she knew. Lost pushed through the crowds of students, all trying to make their way to their classrooms. The bell hadn't rung yet but it would soon.

As Lost glanced down to at the marble flooring, she heard a shout. Lost quickly looked up to see a girl with white blond hair with pink streaks running down the hall.

"Hey, move it! Coming through! Outta my way!" the girl yelled.

Kids moved aside as she ran past them. Lost jumped to the side as the girl barreled along.

"Move for me, Princessbg! Please, clear the way!" Princessbg said.

Lost shook her head and kept walking as the girl went around the corner.

The bell rang a few seconds before Lost made it to the math classroom. Lost went inside and sat at a desk, waiting for more kids to come.

As the last herd of kids came in, an old man shuffled to the front desk. The man had wild white hair with weird goggles perched on his head. He wore a brown vest with emerald buttons. An odd key hung out of his pants pocket.

"Greetings, young students. Welcome to math class. I am your teacher, Mr. Graham," the man said before clearing his throat.

"You should see a book on your table. That is your math book. Read it cover to cover. Once, twice, thrice times if you need to," Mr. Graham said.

Lost glanced around the room and saw some kids already looking bored. One had their head on their desk and Lost could hear soft snores coming from their direction.

"Open your book," Mr. Graham said. "Oh look, our first math equation. Let's see what it is, shall we?"

* * *

The bell rung. Kids sat bolt up right, awake and ready to leave math.

"Alright, you may leave now," Mr. Graham said.

Lost scrambled out of her seat and marched into the hallway. She had memorized where she needed to go next, English.

As she walked down the halls, she looked up at the big wooden clock hanging in the hall and all of a sudden, she bumped into someone.

"Oh, I'm so sorry!" Lost said as she looked down at the girl she had walked into.

"It's ok. Not much harm done," she said as she rubbed her head.

"I'm Lostfairy," Lost said, sticking out her hand.

"I'm AJKraft. Or Kraft for short," Kraft shook Lost's hand. She had brown hair and was wearing a cute grey party hat. She sported a black jacket and a black pearl bracelet.

"Well, I hope to see you around," Lost said.

"Yeah, me too. See ya!" Kraft said as she continued down the hall.

Lost wandered her way to her English classroom and went inside where she found a group of girls surrounding a girl who had a magenta hat.

"Bepper, I just love your hat!" one of the girls cried.

Who in the world is Bepper?

The girl, named Bepper, smiled and pushed up her glasses. She wore a backpack that looked like white dragon wings and had a magenta tie around her neck. She adjusted her black clunky bracelets on her wrists.

I'm guessing she's ANOTHER well known person...

Lost sat down and let her eyes wonder around the room. She noticed how there were little trinkets scattered around in various places and shelves. She even noticed a fancy looking staff with a purple gem on top.

"Hey there! Are you excited for English to start? I am."

Lost looked up to see who had spoken to her and saw a girl smiling at her in the desk beside Lost. She wore a little blue top hat that looked like it was made out of candy. She also wore a turquoise knit sweater that was almost Christmas-y but it still worked for her. She had a bright sparkle in her eyes that made you feel happy too.

"Yeah, I guess I kinda am. I'm new here so everything is exciting," Lost replied. "I'm Lostfairy."

"Oh welcome here! I'm Awesomepanda. Nice to meet you!" Awesomepanda said.

Lost thought for a minute before saying, "Are you by any chance related to a Doomypanda?"

"Nope. Why?" Awesomepanda asked.

"Just curious," Lost said.

Awesomepanda started sorting things in her backpack. Lost looked out the window, waiting for class to start.

Hearing the door shut, Lost looked to see who had closed it. It was Ms. Liza from homeroom.

"Good afternoon! As you might know, I am Ms. Liza. I teach both homeroom and English," Ms. Liza said as she walked to the front of the room.

"Let's start this year of English with a fun writing exercise! I'm thinking it should be some report of some sorts. Any ideas? Feel free to shout them out!" Ms. Liza said.

"A report about summer vacation!"

"A pollution report!"

"A report about something we feel like needs changing in Jamaasian High!"

"Aha! I hear an intriguing idea! Let's make this report about something you feel needs changing in Jamaasian High. It'll be very interesting to hear everyone's thought on change in this school," Ms. Liza beamed. "I'll let you start working these reports for all of this class. The reports will be due in two days."

"Oh, and I just thought of something. How about after I read all the reports in two days, I'll pick the winning report and get the author of it to read it in front of the whole class. And it will get shown to Headmaster Clark. Sounds good?" Ms. Liza said.

Lost started wondering. What does need change?

I've hardly been here, how am I supposed to know things that need change?

She looked around the room to see if others were getting stuck like she was. Almost every kid was bent over their page, writing.

Lost turned back to her desk and tapped her chin with her pencil. Her fingers slipped and the pencil clattered to the floor. A couple kids looked up and snickered.

Lost blushed and bent down to pick it up. As she straightened up, she noticed Ms. Liza smiling kindly at her. She quickly looked back down at her paper and started thinking again.

Hmm, maybe... A better system of getting lockers and dorms? I STILL don't have my locker and I can't carry these heavy books all the time.

With that, she started writing.

Chapter 4 - Trying to Fit in Isn't as Easy as it Looks

Lost walked out of the gym, still disappointed she had made her team lose. She pulled off her backpack, opened it, and dug around for her schedule. Finally finding it, she checked to see what was her next class.

Hm, history. Should be interesting.

She wandered her way through the busy crowd. There were loud shrieks coming from down the hall.

Probably Aparri. Or Wisteriamoon. Or someone else.

Lost reached her history class and walked into the room. She was the only one in room except for one girl who was writing in her notebook.

Lost sat at the desk near a window and set her backpack down. She glanced at the girl who looked like she was concentrating hard on whatever she was writing.

"Um, hi," Lost said, breaking the silence.

The girl looked up and stared at Lost.

"Um, never mind, you can keep on doing... what you were doing," Lost said, embarrassed.

"No, no. It's fine," the girl replied, pushing a strand of caramel colored hair from her face. "I just didn't realize you were going to talk to me."

"I'm Lostfairy."

"I'm Fluffykittenlover," Fluffy said.

Lost shifted around in her chair, trying to think of something else to say.

"Hey, can I ask you something?" Lost asked.

"Sure, shoot," Fluffy said.

"What were you doing in your notebook?" Lost said, hoping she didn't sound rude.

"Oh, I was just doodling, waiting for class to start," Fluffy said, showing her notebook a little.

"Oh, ok! You're pretty good at drawing. My art is kinda whatever," Lost said.

"No, I bet your artwork is better!" Fluffy insisted. "Like, better times infinity."

"I don't think so. Here, I think I have some of my drawings with me." Lost opened her backpack and started searching for her doodling notebook that she had brought along.

"Here." Lost handed the notebook to Fluffy. "Be warned, the first pages are really bad. I started the notebook when I was a little kid, so they suck."

Fluffy opened up to the first page and looked as if she was about to laugh. "Sorry, it's pretty good for a kid, though!"

"It's totally fine!" Lost said.

Fluffy continued flipping through, laughing at some. She got to the end and pointed at a drawing of a dog.

"This is way better than my art!" Fluffy said.

"No, no. Yours is great!" Lost replied just as a steady stream of kids started coming into the classroom.

Fluffy handed the notebook back to Lost, who put it back into her backpack. Fluffy smiled at Lost who smiled back.

Some people in this school are so nice!

After the last few kids had come through, a man strolled into the room and stood in front of the black board.

He had black hair that was almost dark blue. He seemed to have this 'I'm better than you all' kind of look to his stern face. He had a thick dark gold colored chain around his neck.

"Hello, everyone," he said gruffly. "I will be your history teacher for the year."

He grabbed a piece of chalk and wrote his name on the blackboard. "My name is Mr. Greely. Today, we will be learning the history about our country, Jamaa."

He turned back to the class. "I don't expect any one you to pass this class. But still, I will try to get you to learn something."

What's up this guy?

Mr. Greely went over to a table at the side of the room and grabbed a big stack of books. He walked over to the desks and started handing them out.

"This will be your history book for the year. So I would suggest that you shouldn't lose it. Other whys, you pay for it," Mr. Greely said.

He finished handing the books out to the class and went back to his desk.

"Open your books to page one," Mr. Greely said, even though all the kids already knew that that is where you start a book.

Lost opened her heavy, leather book and noticed the pages seemed old and musty. They were yellow, almost brown, with age.

You'd think schoolbooks would be in better care.

"A long, long time ago, a brave woman set forth into an unexplored land we all know today as Jamaa. This explorers name was Mira and her trusty companion was named Zios. He helped her discover this land. Strangely, Mira didn't have anyone to help her with her travels. No big group. Just one man." Mr. Greely cleared his throat before continuing.

"Mira's diaries were found years after she died. In them, she always wondered why this strange land had so many different climates. Cold and warm. Desert and forest. She and Zios tried to figure it out but couldn't. We still don't know how it is possible but it somehow is." Mr. Greely drawled.

"We don't even know when Mira started her expedition. The date had been smudged away in her diaries. We will never know. All we know is where she started her expedition, Crystal Sands. Mira had been sailing with Zios on her grand voyage to the unknown. In her diary, she says she never feared what she would find because she had Zios at her side.

"Now, I have an assignment for you," Mr. Greely said. "You will draw the whole map of Jamaa. By hand. No computers allowed. If you use one, you will certainly fail.

The bell rung and Mr. Greely sighed before saying, "Tomorrow, we will be learning about the dangers Mira found in Jamaa. Be sure to finish your assignment by tomorrow."

Lostfairy stood up and grabbed her backpack. She glanced at Fluffy.

"What class do you have next?" Lost asked, curious.

"I have lunch. What do you have?" Fluffy said.

"Oh, me too!" Lost said.

Lost and Fluffy walked out of the classroom together towards the cafeteria, through the crowds of students.

When they got to the cafeteria, they pushed the doors open and Lost gaped at the sight.

There were tons and tons and tons of students. At the tables, in the lunch line, everywhere. The room was big and open. The tables were all made with a nice light coloring wood. The floor was like the floor in the entryway, marble. Vines grew from the walls and big windows made the room full light.

Fluffy said goodbye to Lost as she walked over to the lunch line to buy food.

Lost gulped and walked over to the quietest table she could find. There were a couple of kids here but they all ignored her.

Lost glanced around and noticed the girl across from her was reading a book. Lost moved her head lower to see what it was. It read 'Sherlock Holmes' . The girl peered over her book, chewing on a cheesy piece of pizza.

Lost quickly moved her head back up, hoping she didn't look weird.

The girl smiled through the cheese and swallowed.

"Hi!" she said, brushing down her white dress. She had nice tan skin, like she had been outside for a while. Her hair was brown and looked great against her skin.

"Hey," Lost said, opening up her lunch bag. "Is that book good? I absolutely love books!"

"It's a GREAT mystery!" the girl said, bobbing her head up and down. "I'm Karalee, by the way. Or sometimes I go by DXplorergirl. What's your name?"

"I'm Lostfairy," Lost said. She then noticed another girl reading a book. It was a Bryan Davis book.

"Hey, my siblings love Bryan Davis," Lost said to the girl.

The girl looked up and smiled. "I love his books too! I'm Sarahkey. Oh, have you guys heard of Owl City? His music is super good!"

"Yeah! I listen to his music all the time," Lost said as she took her lunch out of the bag.

Man, this is a great table!

Sarah grinned and gazed over to the other side of the cafeteria. Lost turned to see what she was staring at. She couldn't see anything out of the ordinary, just a big crowd of kids around a small area.

"What are you looking at, Sarah?" Lost asked.

Sarah blinked and looked at Lost before smiling. "Oh, I just saw Julian. As in, the most awesome, popular guy here."

Who even is Julian?

"Um, sorry but who is Julian?" Lost said, biting into her sandwich.

"He's the most awesome-"

"I think she meant which guy over there is Julian. Because there are tons of people in this school and Lost here is new, right?" Karalee cut in.

"Ohh! Well, he's sitting over there." Sarah said pointing. "He has this curly kind of hair and he's wearing brown. Do you see him?"

Lost searched for a guy who fit the description. She finally noticed a guy who had curly, dirty blond-ish hair in the middle of a crowd. He was trying to eat his lunch and sign autographs at the same time.

What's up with this school and 'famous' people?

Lost turned back to her lunch and continued eating. She then felt a hard poke on her shoulder from behind her.

"Yes?" Lost sighed, turning around.

A boy with a weird spiked collar around his neck kept poking her.

"Yes?" Lost asked louder.

"Hey, do you want my tuna sandwich for your chicken sandwich? It's totally fair." the boy asked.

"Um, no thank you." Lost said, confused.

"C'mon! It's totally fair! My tuna sandwich is worth your sandwich. Here, I'll ask my buddy." the boy said.

"No. I don't really want to switch my lunch around. Sorry." Lost said, turning around.

The boy groaned and walked over to another table.

"That was weird." Lost said to Sarah and Karalee.

"No, it's normal around here." Karalee replied. "You'll get used to it."

"Well, I have to go." Lost said, putting her bag into the trashcan.

"Where are you going?" Sarah asked.

"I have to go to the office and ask which dorm I'm getting and when I should bring my stuff in." Lost explained.

"Okay, see you later, Lost!" Sarah said, waving.

Lost pushed her through the cafeteria and out into the hallway. She walked down the hall towards the office.

As she wandered down the halls, she thought of the first part of the day's events. Famous people being everywhere. Finding great people. Failing dodgeball. Having a great lunch table. In all, it was a pretty good start to school.

Lost finally stood in front of the office door and opened the door. The same lady Lost had seen earlier was still at the desk.

"Um, excuse me. Do you know when I can get my stuff to my dorm or when I get to even know which dorm I'm in?" Lost asked.

The lady looked up and smiled. "You haven't found out yet? Oh, that's okay," she said.

She looked down at her computer and clicked the mouse a few times before looking back up at Lost.

"What's your name again, sugar?"

"I'm Lostfairy."

The lady made some more clicks with the mouse and typed on the keyboard of a little bit. She grabbed a sticky note and wrote down something before handing the paper to Lost.

"This here is your dorm room number. And you can bring your stuff down to your dorm after all the classes," the lady said.

"Thanks. Can I phone my mom and tell her that she can bring my stuff over after school?" Lost asked.

"Sure thing." The lady grabbed the phone and gave it to Lost.

Lost dialed her mom's number and waited. Her mom picked up after three rings.

"Hello?"

"Hi, Mom."

"Oh, hi, sweetie!"

"Uh, Mom, I found out when you can bring my stuff over for my dorm. Just bring it over after school ends, okay?"

"Okay, Lostfairy. How is school? Do you like it?"

"Yeah, it's cool. I've met some cool people here."

"That's so good!"

"Uh, Mom, I got to go, the bell just rung and this school is really big so it takes a while getting from place to place."

"Okay, bye!"

"Bye."

Lost hung up and pushed the phone over the desk to the lady.

"You better go to your class, Lostfairy," the lady said, smiling.

Lost nodded and ran out of the room into the hallway. She then realized that she didn't know what her next class was.

Lost shrugged her backpack off her back and dug inside for her schedule. After finally finding it, Lost looked over it.

Hmm, math next. Peachy.

Chapter 3 - Absolute Torture A.K.A. Gym Class

The bell rang loudly. Kids scrambled to get up, pushing their chairs and grabbing their books.

"Great first class!" Mr. Cosmo shouted above the noise. "You are all so bright and have such creative ideas on science. I can't wait to work with you more. Have a great next class and I'll see you tomorrow!"

Lost stood up and started putting her books into her backpack. She looked up and smiled at Penguin.

"That was a pretty good start, partner." Lost joked. She had had a lot of fun doing science with Penguin. Turns out, he was funny.

"We do make a pretty good team, don't we?" Penguin laughed.

"What's your next class?" Lost asked.

Penguin grabbed his schedule out of his jeans pocket and unfolded it.

"Uh, I have history with some guy named Mr. Greely. Huh, that's a weird name," Penguin said.

"I have P.E. with the coach's name being Gilbert. Like, who names their kid that?" Lost said.

"Have fun with Gilbert," he said as he walked towards the door.

Lost went out into the hall and looked down at her schedule.

Hmm, P.E. is on the bottom floor. I'm so not used to having this schedule and having to go up and down stairs all the time.

Lost walked down the stairs and down the hall to P.E. As she stepped into the gym, she noticed a group of girls clustered around one area across the room.

Curious, Lost wandered closer and found out why the girls were all squealing. Aparri was here.

Great. Just great. Gym with a famous guy who all the girls adore and love. Well, except for Swirlshine.

Lost sat down on the bleachers and looked around, trying to see someone she knew.

There was that new girl from homeroom. What was her name? Oh right, it was Cuddly. She sat with a few girls and she seemed to telling a story, using her hands to make big gestures.

And there was that boy with emo hair from homeroom as well. He was sitting with a group of people who were all in black and red. They glared at anyone who came near.

Maybe I should stay clear of those guys.

Lost spotted Swirlshine, busy chatting with a red haired girl at the top of the bleachers.

I'll let them talk. It'd be kinda rude if I randomly joined into their conversation.

As Lost started wondering when she'd have time to check out her locker, she heard loud squeals. She glanced up and saw the girls leaving Aparri and running toward Wisteriamoon. Aparri smiled and walked over to Wisteria. They grinned and walked toward the bleachers and sat down next to each other. The fans crowded around, asking for autographs.

Seriously. It's SCHOOL. Not Hollywood.

TWEEEET!

Everyone stopped talking. Lost looked at the man who had just come into the gym and blown the whistle. Must be our coach.

He had orange-ish hair with some gray mixed in. His big beard made me look like he should be something other than a coach.

"Alright! Everyone, stop talking. It's P.E. Not chatting class," said the coach. "I am Coach Gilbert. I expect respect from ALL of you. Is that clear?"

He continued without waiting for a response. "In this class, there will be no complaints, no whining, and NO slacking. IS THAT CLEAR?"

He stopped pacing around and looked at the kids expectantly.

"Yes, Coach!" everyone said. Though, Lost could have sworn she heard someone say, "NO!"

Coach Gilbert nodded. "Today, we will be playing a game that is only for the fearless. It is the one of the toughest games any man has ever known. You could get BADLY injured or worse.  If you can't handle this pressure, then leave."

We all looked at each, shocked. What kind of game are we going to play?!

"Good!" he boomed when no one moved. "We are playing DODGE BALL!"

Some kids breathed sighs of relief while others groaned. Lost didn't really know what to think. I haven't played dodge ball very many times.

"Everyone, OFF THE BLEACHERS!" Coach Gilbert yelled. "Line up!"

We scrambled off and stood in rows.

"If I say one when I'm in front of you, you're on team one. If I say two when I'm in front of you, you're on team two. Got it?" the coach said.

He started going through the rows. Lost was on team two. She watched to see who else was on her team. Cuddly was and so was Aparri.

Splendid.

Emo Hair was on team one along with Wisteriamoon. She glanced at Aparri and said, "You're going down. Cause like really, no one beats the team with Wisteriamooooon!"

"We'll see about that," he replied with a laugh.

Coach Gilbert finished setting up the teams and walked into the middle of the gym.

"Alright, when I blow my whistle, it's GAME TIME!" he shouted.

He walked over to the bleachers and sat down.

Everyone started running around and yelling. Lost could barely tell where the ball was.

"Look out!" Cuddly shouted.

Lost looked up, startled. She saw the ball flying towards her. She jumped up and caught the ball. She tossed it and it flew back to the other side of the gym.

Whew! I need to pay more attention.

She started running and keeping an eye on the ball. She leaped in front of a red haired girl and caught it. She then threw it across the gym and it hit a kid on the other team. They sadly walked over to the bleachers and sat down to watch.

"Nice one!" the girl said.

"Thanks," Lost panted. "I'm Lostfairy, by the way. You?"

"I'm Nafaria. My buddies call me Naffy. Or Naffy Taffy," Nafaria said.

Lost grinned and watched the ball. Emo Hair had it and he was smiling weirdly at a kid on team two.
Then he threw it at the kid.

WHAM! The boy fell over onto the floor.

"OWWW!" he cried. He looked like he was going to cry.

"You're out, sucker." Emo Hair sneered.

"Coach, Coach, Coach!" The boy said, hobbling over to the bleachers. "Fman hit me. HARD! I, I fell and see! Look at this red mark! LOOK AT IT!"

So Fman is Emo Hair's name.

"This is dodge ball! Not a wimpy sport, kid. I told you before, if you can't handle it, leave," Coach Gilbert said.

The boy stared at him and then started crying. He ran out of the gym and slammed the door behind him.

"Hey! You going to help or what?"

Lost spun around and saw Cuddly staring at her.

"Yeah, sorry," Lost said.

By now, most of the kids were on the bleachers. There were only Fman and Wisteriamoon on team one and Aparri, Cuddly, and Nafaria were on team two.

"You're going down, team two," Fman said.

"You have less people then we do. So, in my opinion, we will win," Aparri replied.

"Pshh, who cares about your opinion? When does Aparri ever get anything right?" Fman said.

Aparri just stared at him. Then he threw the dodge ball right at Fman.

Fman easily caught it and laughed. "You're just some pretty boy who can't even throw a ball right."

"Stop chitchatting and start THROWING THE BALL!" Coach Gilbert yelled from across the gym.

Fman quickly tossed the ball at Nafaria when she wasn't looking.

"Look out, Nafaria!" Lost called.

Nafaria looked up just as the ball hit her. Rubbing her shoulder, she walked over to the bleachers.

Cuddly picked up the ball and threw it at Wisteria. Then Wisteria threw it at Lost. Then Lost threw it at Fman. The ball kept getting passed back and forth until one of Cuddly's friends called something to her.

Cuddly glanced over at them. "What did you say?" She asked.

Fman took this chance and threw the ball at her. It hit her square on her back. She yelped and turned to glare at Fman before walking over to her group of friends. She immediately started talking with them.

Aparri grabbed the ball and tossed it to the other side. Fman leaped out of the way and the ball hit Wisteriamoon.

"No one ever pushes Wisteriamooooooon!" She huffed and stomped over to the bleachers.

How am I still in the game?!

Fman threw the ball at Aparri who tried to move out of the way but failed. He sighed and looked over
at Lost as he walked over to Wisteria.

Lost gulped and picked up the ball. How could she hit Fman? He was really good at dodge ball.

She put her arm back and stared at Fman. It would take good aim.

She threw the ball as hard as she could.

Fman jumped up and hit it harder. It flew toward Lost's head. Out of instinct, she put her hands over her face.

The ball hit her and Coach Gilbert blew his whistle again.

The game was done. Lost had failed her team.

"The winner is team one!" Coach Gilbert said.

Team two groaned while team one cheered. Fman walked over to his group and smirked at Lost.

How could I fail half my class on the first day?

Nafaria walked over to Lost and patted her on the back.

"You did really good. And who cares that we didn't win? It's just a game," she said.

"Thanks, Naf," Lost replied.

Making my team lose is the perfect way to fit in. Not.

Chapter 2 - Just Getting Started

As Lost stepped inside the room, some kids looked curiously at her. Lost tried to ignore them and looked around, trying to find a good desk that was free. She finally decided on one in the middle next to a bright, cheerful looking girl with brown hair and a boy with shaggy hair with chilled white ends.

She sat down and set her backpack on the ground. Lost looked at her classmates. The boy next to her seemed to like green. A lot. He wore at least three shades of green.

Should I have worn all the same colors as well? Would I fit in more if I wore all one color in lots of shades?

As Lost looked through her backpack, trying to look like she was doing something important and not just sitting there, she felt a tap on her shoulder.

"Hi there! You new?" said the brown haired girl. She was wearing a cute yellow jacket with green clovers on it.

Maybe I'll be okay with what I'm wearing.

"Hey. Yeah, I am," Lost said, wondering if she looked that out of place that anyone could tell she was new. "Are you?"

"Cool! Welcome here!" replied the girl happily. "Nope, I'm not new. I'm Swirlshine, by the way!"

"Nice name," Lost commented. "I'm Lostfairy."

"You're gonna love it here! It has tons of great people attending." Swirlshine grinned and pushed up her glasses. "Just so you know, the school has some 'famous' people here. I don't really care for 'the great and all so wonderful' Aparri. Some of the others are pretty cool, though."

"Yeah, I kinda met Aparri on the way here. Well, I didn't really meet him, more like bumped into him." Lost laughed nervously.

Swirl laughed and opened her mouth to say something but got interrupted by the homeroom door opening.

A lady came in and walked to the front of the room. She looked pretty young. Maybe early thirties.
With her dark, long braid and turquoise cute clothes, it was kinda hard to tell.

"Hello everyone! Welcome to Jamaasian High," she said, kindly. "My name is Ms. Liza and I am your homeroom teacher for the rest of the year. Today we have a special treat. Headmaster Clark is coming to each homeroom to greet you all and wish you a good year."

She glanced toward the door. "Oh, look! There he is now." Ms. Liza walked over to the side of the room.

"Good morning, everyone!" called the man as he walked up to the front of the class. "I am Clark Stacey, your headmaster. I really just wanted to come and wish everyone good luck on this year's school." He smiled.

Everyone smiled politely but someone called out, "We know! I can't wait for this dumb year to be OVER!"

Lost turned and saw who had said it. A boy with black, long shaggy hair, almost emo style, crossed his arms over his leather jacket and frowned.

Clark cleared his throat before continuing. "This year will be spectacular. We have such bright teachers and bright students. I know you will all enjoy attending."

He started pacing. "We mostly have the same students as last year but we have a few new students! I would like them to come up and tell us about themselves."

"Cuddly, Lostfairy, and Skywatcher. Please come up and inform us about yourselves," he said, smiling.

Lost gulped and stood up, along with two other girls.

Cuddly, a curly haired girl who looked like she had a lot of energy, went first.

"Hey, I'm Cuddly. I just moved here but I already love the community and city. Uh, I like hanging
out online and being around friends." She glanced at Clark and then hurried back to her desk.

Skywatcher stood forward, brushing her caramel colored hair away from her face.

"Um, hi. I'm Skywatcher. I can play piano. I like hanging out with my best friends and yeah, that's all I can think of."

Skywatcher quickly walked over to her desk. Lost gulped when she noticed everyone was looking at her. Also, her mouth was doing that thing where she wanted to say something but nothing came out.

"Um, I'm Lostfairy. I, uh, used to be homeschooled but now, um, I go here. I mean, you can see that I go here, because I'm here, right?" Lost blushed as she stammered. "Uh, I like skateboarding and rollerblading. I also like, um, being outside and I love my computer. I also love books."

Lost watched as some of the kids whispered to each other. As she went back to her desk, she felt her face go even warmer. As she sat, Clark went back to the front of the room.

"Thanks for sharing, girls. Well, I'm sure we all feel like we know all three of the newcomers a little bit more." Clark smiled. "Now, it's time for your classes to start. Have an amazing first day!"

Everyone scrambled to get up and grab their backpacks. The crowd started pushing and shoving their way to the door.

Lost took her time, slowly grabbing her backpack and standing up. She looked up to find Swirlshine smiling at her.

"C'mon! What class are you going to next? I hope we have the same one." Swirl beamed at Lost.

"I have science first. You?" Lost said.

"Aww, I have math. I hope we get the next one the same! What's your next one after?" Swirl said, looking over.

"I have P.E.," Lost said.

"Oh! Me too! Yay!" Swirl jumped excitedly.

Lost waved goodbye as she walked out of the room and started looking around for her science classroom. She looked around and saw a giant piece of paper on the wall next to her homeroom. She walked over and noticed it was a huge map of Jamaasian High.

It's so big, they need a map?!

Lost moved her finger over the map and found her science classroom. It was up on the third floor.
She looked around for stairs and noticed there was some wooden stairs down the hall. She walked over and climbed up to the second floor. Next to the stairs was another set, leading to the third floor.

When she started going up, she noticed Aparri glancing over his shoulder as he ran down the stairs and almost rammed into her.

Aparri noticed too and yelled, "That seriously would have been our second time bumping into each other today."

Lost shook her head as he kept running down the hall. That guy should look where he's going too.

At the top of the stairs, she saw her class just next to the stairs. She opened the door and walked inside.

It was emptier than the homeroom but still had some kids in it. Lost easily found a seat in the middle again. She glanced around and saw lots of beakers and test tubes. She even noticed a cauldron in the back of the room. What's that for? Are we witches or what?

The door opened and a crowd of girls came in. They all sat down and crowded around one girl who had short brown hair and wore a bunch of pink. They all started whispering and looking around.

Everyone stopped talking when they saw their teacher walk in. He had tanned skin and light brown hair. He looked pretty young, maybe early twenties. He wore a pea-green baseball cap and green shirt.

He walked over to his desk and blackboard. He looked at every person and smiled.

"Hello everyone. I am your teacher, Cosmo. Please, call me Mr. Cosmo." He was about to continue when the shaggy haired boy with different colored ends burst into the room.

"Sorry, I'm late!" he panted.

"It's alright. Just sit down, please." Mr. Cosmo said, looking a little disturbed.

The boy grinned and sat down next to Lost. He looked at her and mouthed, "Hi!"

She nodded and looked back at the front of the room where Mr. Cosmo was writing his name on the
blackboard.

Turning back around, Mr. Cosmo started talking. "So, welcome to my science class. I hope you all find out that science is a very wonderful and interesting thing to learn and study."

He started pacing. "To start today off, I want to pair you with your partner that will work with you for half the year."

"Why can't we pick our science partner ourselves?" somebody shouted from the back.

Mr. Cosmo nodded. "Sure. You all can pick your partner. When you pick someone, push two desks together and sit there together."

Everyone started moving and pushing desks around. Lost looked and saw lots of girls trying to be partners with the brown haired girl.

"Let me be your partner, Wisteria! Please!" they said.

So that's Wisteriamoon. Interesting.

Lost felt a tap on her shoulder. She whirled around and saw the boy next to her smiling.

"Wanna be partners?" he asked.

"Uh, sure." Lost nodded.

"I'm Penguin. What's your name?" he asked as he stood up to push his desk.

"I'm Lostfairy," Lost said as she pushed her desk over.

They sat down and waited for the others to be finished.

"Perfect! Everyone has a partner, I see." Mr. Cosmo said, nodding. "Now, let's start today's lesson!"
